Aerobics Tips

1. Before you start your aerobic workout, you need to make sure you warm up properly. Whether you are at the gym or doing an aerobics tape in front of your TV, a proper stretch and warm up will help prevent injuries. Slow stretching also helps prepare your muscles for a workout and prevents muscle soreness.

2. Don’t over do it. An aerobics workout can be very intense, so make sure you go at your own pace. If you feel like you need to rest for a minute, go head. You do not want to hurt yourself by doing too much in your aerobics workout. As with any fitness routine, you need to slowly build up your endurance and strength. If you are unable to complete your aerobics exercise now, don’t give up.

3. One of the most important things to remember when you are doing your aerobics work out is to have good form. If you do not keep your body in the proper position, you have a greater risk for injury. Here are a few tips to help you keep good body form in your aerobics workout. First of all, tuck your pelvis in so that your back is elongated. Also, make sure that when you do lunges, your knee is directly aligned with your ankle. Always look straight ahead of you. If you are constantly looking down at your feet, you could suffer from unnecessary back or neck pain. As with any exercise, monitor your breathing.

4. It is also essential that you wear the proper shoes when doing an aerobic workout. You need to find a pair of shoes that provide good arch support. Cross training shoes work well for this. Running shoes do not provide the cushioning that you need. Shop around and find the shoes that support your foot the best.

5. Do not do any aerobics exercise on concrete, hardwood floors, or linoleum.

6. At the end of your aerobics workout, you need to make sure you cool down. A cool down consists of more stretching to prevent soreness or injury.
